Skydiving Isn't As Dangerous As You Think!

Did you know that although there is a high perception of danger in skydiving, fatalities are rare? There are an estimated 3 million skydiving jumps every year and the fatality count is only 21.

This means that anyone participating in skydiving has a 0.0007% of being fatally injured. Most of the fatalities that do occur in skydiving are due the skydiver performing an unsafe manoeuvre that results in a high speed impact with the ground. So as long as you stay safe by wearing the correct equipment and listening to your instructor skydiving isn't that dangerous at all!

Sporting Injuries

Both amateur and professional athletes will sustain injuries whilst participating in their chosen sport. The cause of the injuries will vary but many occur due to fatigue, improper training or by not wearing the correct protective gear. Although there are hundreds of different injuries that can occur, some areas of the body are more prone to damage than others. Here are some of the most common injuries that occur in sports:

– Concussion
– Groin strain
– Shin splints
– Runners knee
– Pulled muscles

Have you ever fallen prey to any of the above injuries? If so you will know that injuries such as these can all be treated with medical care however, this will often cost you time and money! For this reason, buying sports insurance or adventure travel insurance before you participate in any form of sport is vital.

Our insurance policies will provide you with financial compensation (Personal Accident) or cover your medical costs and repatriation (Travel Insurance), so you can participate in the sport of your choice with full peace of mind! When do you class a sport or activity as being an extreme sport?

This is often debatable, however extreme sports tend to be more solitary and they have a higher level of danger and risk than ordinary sports. Many extreme sports will involve high speeds, heights, physical exertion and a huge adrenaline rush! What’s your favorite extreme sport?

Insurance for Events

If you are organising an event on a tight budget, you may think that having to pay out for insurance is an extra expense that is unnecessary, but if a participant or a member of the watching crowd sustains an injury, whilst at your event and you have no insurance in place, the money raised through the event may well be swallowed up with medical bills, compensation charges and long drawn out court cases.

While we all would want to avoid injuries and accidents, insurance is there because unfortunately, statistically someone, somewhere, somehow will become injured through playing sport, or being a spectator at a sporting event.

Having the correct insurance in place for your event will enable you to take care of the problem without serious stress or financial impact on your team or sporting venue. Investing a small amount of money in the correct insurance plan for your event will provide you with peace of mind and save you thousands of pounds should the unexpected happen.

With SportsCover Direct you have a wide range of policies on offer for events which can be tailored to suit your specific requirements, so you will be sure to find the right sports insurance to suit your particular needs. Visit
